15mm Elves and Trees 2

Painted some more Elves and Trees. They got pretty soundly beaten yesterday. I should have been reported to the RSPB for what I did with my Eagles. I think the Elf part of the army doesn't play well with the Tree bit, so I will be painting more Elves and making a high-discipline elite force from them, and then making a separate, random, low-powered, lots of magic, slug-and-shrub-summoning force from the Trees.

15mm Elves and Trees

I have started a new 15mm army for Sword and Spear Fantasy. Originally it was going to be a mixed Elves and Trees force, but I have enough figures that I have decided to turn them into two separate armies. I have based the Elf heavy infantry with a line of archers, giving them a Seaguard sort of feel, and taking advantage of the Restricted Bows rule in S&S. This makes the unit extremely expensive, so hopefully the tactic works for them.

I am fielding the Trees as mostly Beasts, Large Beasts, Monsters and Swarm, which means their general's leadership will be almost non-existent, but it feels like a decent theme. I think I will field a single general to stop them being out of command, and the rest of the leading will be done through magic gardeners. It might actually make more sense to class them as undead, but I already have an undead army.

The Elves are from Magister Militum. The larger trees are from Ral Partha The smaller ones from Pendraken (I green-stuffed the foliage), and the tree man base thing is an incense burner from ebay.

West Midlands Saga Tournament

Went to the West Midlands Saga tournament at Wyvern Wargamers. Looks like a nice little club in the middle of the countryside, and the tournament was very friendly and well run. I played four games and did very averagely. Here are a few pics that I had time to take (getting through 6 turns in an hour and three quarters can be a challenge).

Saga: Tartan Army 5

I have finally finished my Scots stuff for Saga. (Well, almost. I have 12 levies with crossbows to go, but I feel like they will stay on the lead mountain for a good while. I don't mind if I never paint another tartan.) I don't really need these horsey guys. I will probably be fielding 5 points of Warriors, and 1 point of levies with bows. I am trying them out soon, and I might end up replacing one point of warriors for a point of mounted hearthguard.

Saga Slaanesh Monster Scourge Flying

Having re-organised my Slaanesh Saga: AoM Otherworld warband I needed a new Scourge, and I found this slightly random thing in my local games shop. I'm not really sure what is going on and I don't recognise some of the bits. But someone has green-stuffed a load of Slaanesh bits together in quite a decent manner, so I have recruited it.
